![]() ![]() I even tried setting up ffmpeg in the Docker containers and set the values in the settings files, but it just doesn't seem to work for me.īacking up means I have to duplicate my buckets. Video previews in the web app also don't work properly, at least for me. The only problem I have with Seafile is that the SeaDrive client has a problem with image previews (it doesn't show it in Windows Explorer), so I resorted to using the Seafile Sync client instead. I also never used the other NC features anyway (I just needed a cloud drive), so switching was a no-brainer. It just worked like it's storing the files on the same server. In Seafile, S3 as the primary storage works like a charm. I have my files on Wasabi (via S3) and Nextcloud never played nice with S3 as primary storage (it's extremely slow and had a ton of timeouts when I used it), so I was locked on to a normal setup where the data is stored in the same server where Nextcloud was. I've been running Seafile for more than 5 months now where it replaced my Nextcloud instance full-time which has been running for more than a year and I have to say that I feel like I made the right choice in switching. TLDR: If sync speed doesn't matter (it seldom does since syncing will mostley be done in the background) I would definitely use Nextcloud and if it matters I would think about Seafile but probably choose Syncthing. Edit: Another drawdown is you have to manually run a garbage collector in order to clean up unused disk space. Still keeping Seafile for the other files currently (probably going to change back to Nextcloud in the future). But webdav is still slow and I now changed the workflow for storing pictures. Reason for the move to Seafile was to get faster transfer times for my pictures. Main problem is files are stored in chunks so in order to back them up with borgbackup I had to write a script to mount Seafile with seaf-fuse first then backup through webdav which is so slow compared to native filesystem. I half regret the transition because of some downsites. ![]() ![]() It has nice features like automatic file deduplication. I moved my family files from Nextcloud to Seafile.
